Synopsis
Transforming Subterranean Termite Control through Science & Research with Renowned Entomologist Ion Staunton
In the thriving urban landscape of Singapore, where a vast network of rivers, canals, and drains connect two-thirds of the city as water catchment areas, our built environment has witnessed remarkable advancements. However, the use of undisclosed quantities of termiticides continues to jeopardize our precious groundwater resources.
Key Principles of Sustainable Subterranean Termite Control:
- Identification of concealed termite entry points into buildings with precision and expertise, and then employ suitable and highly effective stainless steel physical barrier profiles to permanently block these entry points.
- Mitigation of stainless-steel mesh termite barriers installation in buildings where it is superfluous. It is essential to note that one ton of stainless steel (scrap 30%) generates approximately 6.8 tons of carbon dioxide.
- Elimination of unnecessary termiticide usage due to their short half-life, thereby preventing contamination of groundwater.
- Elimination of redundant installations of termiticide-infused barriers in buildings.
- Abolition of unnecessary plastic bait stations surrounding buildings where their presence is unwarranted.
Through our commitment to science and research, we aim to transform termite control practices, ensuring environmental preservation, sustainable and reliable termite protection of our built environment in Singapore.
The Future of Lighting: CoeLux Technology and the Benefits of Reproduced Sunlight for Wellbeing
In addition to supporting visual performance, natural light influences many psycho-physiological parameters of human beings and acts as a regulating system of the circadian rhythm.
What if a technology is able to reproduce the same characteristics of natural light, including a clear, blue sky and a beautiful sun? Coelux reproduces the effect of the sky and the sun in an artificial device that replicates the sun’s rays diffused by the earth’s atmosphere, making the sky of the CoeLux systems appear bright and blue. The perception of reproduced sunlight maintains visual balance and improves the quality of life for people in offices, homes, hospitals, shops, and more. Benefits include increased melatonin production, reduced stress, and improved attention and concentration.
Professor Paolo Di Trapani, CEO and Founder of CoeLux, and Giuliano Gatti, CoeLux Area Manager for Asia, will introduce the technology and explain how it is able to create well-being by starting with a simple concept: we must reconnect with the sky, our true home.
