The webinar will feature the sharing of the design philosophies and concept by the winning designs of the SIA Architectural Design Awards 2021.

Speakers

Ar. Alan Tay, Formwerkz Architects
Alan is the Managing Partner of Formwerkz Architects and the Co-founder of the Formwerkz Collective with specialization in hospitality and retail experience, place-making, digital fabrication and branding. Formwerkz numerous projects have received critical acclaim both locally and internationally. Some of the accolades includes Architecture Review Award, The President’s Design Award, SIA Building of the Year and Design Award, FRAME Award, Golden Pin Design Awards, International Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum and the European Urban Centre, Design for Asia Award. In recognition of his architectural merits, he was selected by AUDE as one of the promising architects in the “20 Under 45: The Next Generation” in 2004.
He currently serves as a member of the Design Singapore-Design Education Committee. He was appointed by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) as the Festival Director of Archifest 2019.
He believes in the transformative power of Design in effecting change and making the world a better place.

Ar. Filippo Pesce, Architects 61 Pte Ltd
Filippo moved to Singapore and joined architects 61 in 2010 after having acquired experience in architectural offices in Italy and Spain. He has participated in several design competitions, securing and delivering multiple award-winning design projects. Filippo is a registered architect in Singapore, the UK and Italy, and currently oversees a portfolio of projects across a variety of building types including the new Singtel Waterfront Theatre in Marina Bay, NUS E7, and renovation works for the NUS Central Library.'

Mr. Eric Parry, Eric Parry Architects
Eric Parry founded the practice in 1983 after studying architecture at the University of Newcastle (1970–1973), the Royal College of Art (1976–1978) and the Architectural Association (1979–1980).

As an architect he is known for the intellectual rigour and sensitivity with which every project is approached and imbued and for recognising the importance of art and craft in the built environment. Now leading a practice of about 80 with offices in London and Singapore, he is still fully involved in every aspect of the practice’s work, from inception and design to the direction of the project teams, design development and delivery.

In addition to his work in architectural practice, Eric has held a number of eminent posts including President of the Architectural Association. In 2006 he was elected Royal Academician (RA), one of the highest accolades for a practising architect or artist in the UK, and he has also served on the RIBA Library Committee, the Kettle's Yard Committee, the Mayor’s Design Advisory Panel, the Arts Council of England’s Visual Arts and Architecture panel and the RIBA Awards Group.

His contribution to academia includes 14 years as Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Cambridge (between 1983 and 1997) and lectureships at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, and the Tokyo Institute of Technology. In 1975 he spent a year studying nomadic settlement in Iran (1974–1975).

Eric Parry maintains a key involvement in all projects, particularly in their design development stages, and under his leadership the practice has developed a reputation for delivering beautifully crafted and well-considered buildings.


Mr. Joseph Chua, RSP Singapore
Joseph is a project lead architectural designer with nearly 10 years of experience across residential, commercial, and industrial typologies. Joseph aspires to lead teams to produce meaningful architecture that balances user experience, project value and design quality. He believes that purposeful design is empathetic in all aspects – from occupants to the zeitgeist of any given space. Joseph continues the discourse of architecture and design through photography and travels experiences.

Ar. Angelo Kriziotis, Kerry Hill Architects Pte Ltd
Angelo Kriziotis joined the KHA in 1990 and worked for 15 years in both the Singapore and Perth studios of the practices. In 2006 he became an Associate of the practice in 2008 and in 2014 he became a Practice Director.

He is registered practicing architect in both Australia and Singapore. Project involvement ranging from design through to the documentation and construction stages of medium to large hotels, villas, houses, retail and office developments.

Kerry Hill Architects (KHA) is an award winning Architectural and design practice established in 1979 by Kerry Hill. From its first studio, in Singapore, the practice has evolved over the last 40 years with a project base growing from its original south-east Asia location. Its second studio was founded in Perth, Western Australia in 1995. Together the two studios comprise approximately 80 predominantly professional staff.

The practice has a strong commitment to regionalism in architectural solutions, resulting in buildings and strategies that demonstrate a strong relationship to the physical and cultural context of a project site and environment.

Ar. Justin Hill, Kerry Hill Architects
Justin Hill joined Kerry Hill Architects in Singapore in 1981, two years after it was founded by Kerry Hill. He became a Director of the Singapore practice in 1990, and was a founding Director of the Kerry Hill Architects Perth studio in 1995.
He is registered practicing architect in both Australia and Singapore. His professional affiliations include membership of the Singapore Institute of Architects, and Fellowship of the Australian Institute of Architects,
with whom he is currently an elected National Councillor and Board Member. With the RAIA he has served on state chapter and national award juries.
