Synopsis
The SIA Gold Medal, implemented in 1998, is the highest honour the Singapore Institute of Architects bestows on a senior architect to recognize his lifetime contribution to architecture and his distinguished service to the architectural profession.
This lecture invites the Gold Medal 2023 Award Winners to share more about themselves and their contributions to the built environment. Through this meaningful session, learn more about the journey of Ar. Raymond Woo and Mr. Kerry Hill (through his representative, Ar. Tanuj Goenka).
Speakers
Ar. Raymond Woo, Raymond Woo & Associates Architects
Raymond Woo was born in 1939, during the Japanese occupation in poverty-stricken Chinatown. He was educated at NSW and graduated in 1965. Throughout his journey as an architect, Raymond Woo won the Singapore Science Centre Competition in 1970.
His career then evolved, and he had the opportunity to lead SIA Hangar, Loyang Condominium, Ngee Ann City, 268 and ARPC Church Tengah.
His journey has been one of tremendous challenges which takes stamina and patience.
Ar. Tanuj Goenka, Kerry Hill Architects
Tanuj graduated from the School of Architecture, Ahmedabad, India in 1997. He joined KHA’s (Kerry Hill Architects) Singapore studio in 1999 and is a registered practicing architect in Singapore and India.
During his time with KHA, he has been involved in a number of large-scale projects including master planning, hotel, institutional and multi-residential buildings in Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Maldives, Bhutan, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Greece, Croatia, and the United States.
Tanuj relocated to Bhutan from 2003 to 2006 to oversee the construction of a series of hotels for Aman. He became an Associate in 2008 and a Practice Director in 2014. He is currently heading the KHA design and documentation team for projects in Japan, China, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Greece, as well as One Beverly Hills, a luxury mixed-use development in California.
