Synopsis
This webinar will examine the recent Singapore High Court and Court of Appeal cases on applications to set aside an Arbitral Award. The attitude and approach of the Courts in dealing with these applications will be examined and discussed. The webinar will also examine the basic principles applicable in setting aside applications as affirmed by the Courts in these cases.
This webinar will be of interest to persons interested to learn about arbitration, parties engaged in or are contemplating arbitration proceedings as well as to arbitration practitioners conducting arbitration proceedings.

Mr. Raymond Chan Senior Partner, Chan Neo LLP
Raymond Chan is a Senior Partner of Chan Neo LLP a firm of advocates and solicitors and has practiced in the area of Building and Construction Law for over 35 years. He was the Past President of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators as well as the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
He is also a Senior Accredited Adjudicator with the Singapore Mediation Centre and a Senior Accredited Specialist (Building & Construction) with the Singapore Academy of Law. He is also a Member of the Inquiry Panel of the Law Society of Singapore.
He has been appointed as Sole Arbitrator and the Chairman of Arbitration Tribunals in numerous local and international Arbitrations. He has also been appointed as an Adjudicator and Review Adjudicator by the Singapore Mediation Centre.
He is a Member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, the Law Society of Singapore and the National Energy Market of Singapore.
He is the Honorary Legal Advisor of the Singapore Real Estate Developers Association (“REDAS”), the Singapore Institute of Architects (‘SIA”) and the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (“SISV”). He is also Chairman of the REDAS Design & Build Committee and the REDAS Conciliation Panel Scheme.
He acts regularly for Property Developers, Contractors and Design Consultants and has represented them as Counsel in the High Court as well as in domestic and international arbitrations.
He was involved in the drafting of the REDAS Design & Build Conditions of Contract (1st to 4th Editions), the REDAS Design & Build Conditions of Sub-Contract and the previous editions of SIA Conditions of Main Contract and Conditions of Sub Contract.
He also co-authored the textbook on Construction Law in Singapore and Malaysia (2nd Edition).
Raymond is listed in the 2008-2023 Editions of the International WHO’S WHO Legal Construction Lawyers as a Leading Construction Lawyer in Singapore.
