Synopsis
Fire Code 2018 was released on 21 Aug 2018 by SCDF and full implementation took place on 1 Mar 2019. IFE had conducted a seminar on the new release of Fire Code on 8 Jan 2019 and it was focused on the new requirements, changes and their rationale.
This coming seminar_CHANGES TO FIRE CODE & ITS APPLICATION organized by SIA_PT_RCS_FSS committee has a different emphasis. The committee will not only be highlighting the changes but also to bring to the attention of the audiences on how some of the changes may impact the design and the underlying effects on the application of these new or revised Clauses.

Director of BDP Architects (Southeast Asia) Pte. Ltd.
Andrew is a registered Architect and the Director for BDP’s Singapore Studio. He has extensive Singapore and international experience in a wide variety of sectors that includes, mixed-use developments, retail, masterplanning, leisure and cultural, commercial, infrastructure, and residential developments.
Andrew is currently serving in the SIA Fire Safety and Security Sub-Committee.
Ar. Gerald Lim
Associate Partner-Jon Architects & Associates
Gerald received his Bachelor of Architecture(Honours) from School of Architecture, National University of Singapore in 1995 and registered with the Board of Architects, Singapore in 2000. He is also both a Design for Safety Professional and Competent Person for Period Facade Inspection(PFI). He is currently an Associate Partner in Jon Architects & Associates.
Gerald is currently serving in the SIA Fire Safety and Security Sub-Committee.
Ar. Huay Wen Jun
Wen Jun is an aspiring young architect who believes that collaboration often brings the best results.
He is currently practicing in HUAY Architects, bringing his passion for computational design and evidence based approach into both practices to create spaces that are meaningful and inspiring
Ar. Lee Shiuh Liang Jason
Principal Architect - Absolute X, Singapore
Lee Shiuh Liang, Jason graduated with a Masters in Architecture from the National University of Singapore in 2009 with specialization in the Design, Technology and Management, March (DTM) and is a Registered Architect in Singapore since 2013. He is also a Green Mark Accredited Professional (GMAP), a Design for Safety Professional (DfSP), a Class 1 Interior Designer and an ACLP certified trainer.
Jason’s sphere of experience covers diverse projects from large institutional developments, statutory board headquarter, commercial buildings, infrastructure works, residential developments, single family residences and art installations. He was conferred the Young Designer of the Year in Singapore Interior Design Award 2023 (SIDA 2023). His concept for an adaptive residential apartment was also awarded Gold in the Best Residential Concept Design category in the
same SIDA 2023.
Outside of work, he contributes his time serving in SIA Workplace Safety and Health Committee, Fire Safety & Security Sub-Committee and Building Control & Parks Sub-Committee. He also sits in SCDF Audit Inquiry Committee, Fire Safety Standing Committee and Fire Code Review Committee.
Ar. Koh Tien Beng, KTB Architects
Principal
Mr Koh Tien Beng has more than 30 years of experience in architectural practice in Singapore. He is an active member of The Singapore Institute of Architects’ Fire Safety & Security Sub-Committee since 1996 and was Chairman of the committee from 2001 to 2005. He was appointed as a FSSD Registered Inspector since November 1994.
Besides being a member of the Fire Safety & Security Sub-Committee, currently he is also a representative of the following committees :
a)FSSD Standing Committee
b) FSSD RI Selection Committee
c) FSSD RI Waiver Committee
d) Research Study Group for effective building design for prevention of vertical fire spread – air well.Mr
Koh had worked for Housing and Development Board from 1975 to 1978. In his private practice, he had successfully completed two HDB Design and Build projects and is also involved in many HDB upgrading projects.
As a Registered Inspector, Mr Koh had conducted inspections to many new private and public projects. Over the years, he had also inspected various types of HDB upgrading projects e.g. MUP, IUP, LUP, ROS etc.
Ar Lim Chee Kean
Chee Kean graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Masters of Architecture. He is a Registered Architect and a member of Singapore Institute of Architects.
He is currently serving in SIA Fire Safety & Security Sub-Committee
Ar. Tan Beng Leong, TBL Architects
Beng Leong graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies and a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. He has also obtained a post-graduate Masters of Science in Real Estate from the Building & Estate Management Faculty and a Graduate Certificate in International Arbitration from the Faculty of Law, NUS. He is a Registered Architect and a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators.
He is currently serving on SIA Fire sub-committee, and has served in SIA ENV sub-committee, SCDF’s Safety in Rapid Transit Systems Review Committee, Fire Safety Engineers Selection Panel and SCDF Audit Inquiry Committee. He was appointed in a personal capacity as a member of SCDF’s Cladding Regulatory Regime Review Advisory Panel in 2018.
His resume covers large professional firms such as RSP Architects, Planners & Engineers Pte Ltd, Meinhardt (S) Pte Ltd and CPG Consultants Pte Ltd. He is based in Singapore and has worked in London and Dubai on large projects. He has given talks, specifically on MRT station fire code.
Ar Tracy Tan
Tracy was educated in Singapore in Architecture with an Masters of Architecture with a specialization in Design Technology and Sustainability. She is also a Registered Architect and member of the SIA Fire Safety & Security sub-committee.
She has worked in Singapore and Hong Kong with experience on retail-mixed-use development developments and workplaces of different scales and complexities. The various typologies her portfolio includes also hotel & residential.
