Synopsis
As Singapore faces an ageing population, the prevalence of cognitive impairments like dementia is expected to rise. Today, 1 in 10 over the age of 60 years old in Singapore has dementia, and the total number of persons living with dementia is projected to increase to 150,000 by 2030. But instead of placing these individuals in institutionalised care, research has shown that individuals living with mild to moderate dementia can thrive in their communities when provided with the right support and environment to live independent, dignified lives.
The question then is: “How might we create a dementia-friendly neighbourhood?”
If you work in the intersection of architecture and healthcare, design for neighbourhood improvement projects, or have a personal or professional interest in the topic, we invite you to join us in this session! To enrich the discussion, we will also have individuals with unique experiences and perspectives on this topic to join us.
Come and be part of a community of practitioners who want to make our city an enabling and inclusive place for all.
