Synopsis
ASSA ABLOY would like to introduce an exciting innovation that could significantly enhance your workflow throughout the BIM life cycle via our proprietary BIM plug in called OPENINGS STUDIO.
Openings Studio is a powerful tool that enables architects like yourself to create a comprehensive Door Family in just 5-10 minutes. Beyond that, it allows you to analyze your BIM project early on, helping our Sales & Specification team to precisely specify openings without having to wait for a finalized door schedule. This proactive approach not only saves valuable time but also ensures accurate cost estimations during the design phase.
Additionally, once the door hardware specification is completed, you can seamlessly import it back into your BIM model, integrating all details directly into your project. The Smart Tags features form Openings Studio will benefit Contractor during construction from installation and inspection, all will be recorded in Openings Studio.

Akhtar Sulaiman, Director, Product Mkting (SEA)
Akhtar Sulaiman is currently the Director, Product Marketing for ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions South East Asia, HK, Macau & Taiwan. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (UMIST) in the United Kingdom in 1996. Akhtar spent 25 years in the automotive industry before taking on a new challenge by joining ASSA ABLOY in a completely different industry.
Besides his experience in the Marketing field, Akhtar has held various roles within the automotive industry, including Production Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, Localization, Purchasing, Product Planning, Network Development, Sales Planning & Logistics, IT, and Customer Care. This diverse experience was gained through regional roles in global companies like Ford, Volvo Cars, Jaguar, and Land Rover.
Apart from his professional experience, Akhtar has been actively involved in industry associations. He was elected as the Chairman of SAE International Malaysia Chapter for the 2008/2009 session. Akhtar firmly believes in continuous improvement and graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Coventry University in 2024 to further enhance his knowledge and skills.
Norimah Othman, Snr BIM Dev Mgr (GC&SEA)
Norimah Othman joined ASSA ABLOY in 2021 and she is leading BIM Development for the Openings Studio, the BIM enable software and Customer Relations Management across the Greater China and Southeast Asia region. With over 20 years of experience in Architectural Design, Project Management, Construction & BIM implementation in various roles, she is now focused on spreading awareness about Openings Studio to Architects, Contractors, and Developers especially on digital solution for door and ironmongeries. Her aim is to build awareness and facilitate the best use of Openings Studio BIM enabler for opening.

- For SIA Members whose registrations have been confirmed, attendance is compulsory. Cancellation for complimentary registration is only allowed 3 working days before the actual event.
- Any absentee will be charged at $22.00.
- Ticket is non-transferable under all circumstances.
- Group registration will be subjected to group admin fee of $1 per ticket per transaction. Replacement/Cancellation of participant will not be allowed under group registration.
