Synopsis

Construction projects have become more complex involving multiple parties and complex planning incurring large financial investments. An oversight in any of the various complex stages and co-ordination may result in delays with huge impact on project delivery and financial risks. Most construction projects provide for an extension of time mechanism for contracting parties to deal with unexpected delays. Architects and project administrators apply these mechanism to grant extensions of time when delays occur.

This seminar discusses the various types of delays that may be encountered and their effects on the parties rights and obligations. It also discusses how contract administrators apply these mechanism to deal with claims for extensions of time, acceleration, prolongation, and disruptions. It looks at legal and contractual principles when faced these claims.
