Synopsis
Topic 1: Water Fittings Standards and Requirements. What architects should know and look out
for?
The speaker will highlight compliance requirements of water fitting and share updated
WELS – MWELS on WC flush valves and water efficiency standards for commercial equipment.
Topic 2: Critical sanitary/sewerage requirements for landed houses.
The speaker will share the following critical COPSSW requirements when submitting proposals involving landed houses:
• Drain-line connection to public sewer
• Sewer setback
• Structure over sewer
• Manhole located within living space
• RC trench requirements
• Risk of used water backflow (levels of floor traps, ICs are lower than that of connecting/downstream manhole)
Topic 3: Earth Control Measures (ECM) – What architects should know and look out for?
The speaker will share compliance requirements of ECM, enhancement of ECM submissions and highlight the common ECM design mistakes.

Noryati Abdullah
Senior Engineer
Ms Noryati Abdullah is a Senior Engineer from the Water Fittings Section, Inspectorate Branch, Water Supply (Network) Department. She is responsible for overseeing the compliance requirements for water fittings for sale and supply in Singapore, which also covers stipulation of standards and requirements. She also administers the Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme (WELS) for various products such as taps/mixers (basin, sink/bib, shower), WC flush valves, urinal flush valves/waterless urinals, household washing machines and dishwashers and commercial appliances such as washer extractors, commercial dishwashers and high pressure washers.
Muhammad Razis
Senior Engineer
Mr Muhammad Razis is a Senior Engineer from the Water Reclamation Network (WRN) Department in PUB. He supervises the team that evaluates waiver applications on sewerage/sanitary matters and is part of the team that manages the Code of Practice on Sewerage and Sanitary Works (COPSSW).
Nurul Ain Kamarudin
Executive Engineer
Ms Nurul Ain Kamarudin is an Executive Engineer in PUB Catchment & Waterways Department. She is involved in development control for drainage deviation requests and the reviewing of the Code of Practice on Surface Water Drainage to ensure adequate drainage and flood protection measures are put in place for developments.
