Ar. Han Loke Kwang, HYLA Architects
Bachelor of Architecture, First Class Honours (Colombo Plan Scholarship) University of Newcastle N.S.W, Australia (1985) A registered architect with the Board of Architects Singapore since 2001, Han’s professional experience started in Housing & Development Board. He moved on to RSP Architects, Engineers & Planners and subsequently founded HYLA Architects in 1994. He has been involved in a wide range of architectural and design projects which include residential, commercial interiors and hospitality development. He believes in an architecture of simplicity, honesty and direct personal expression. He draws his inspiration from art from the Italian renaissance to the abstract expressionists.
Ar. Alan Tay, Formwerkz Architects
Alan is the Managing Partner of Formwerkz Architects and the Co-founder of the Formwerkz Collective with specialization in hospitality and retail experience, place-making, digital fabrication and branding. Formwerkz numerous projects have received critical acclaim both locally and internationally. Some of the accolades includes Architecture Review Award, The President’s Design Award, SIA Building of the Year and Design Award, FRAME Award, Golden Pin Design Awards, International Architecture Award from the Chicago Athenaeum and the European Urban Centre, Design for Asia Award. In recognition of his architectural merits, he was selected by AUDE as one of the promising architects in the “20 Under 45: The Next Generation” in 2004.
He currently serves as a member of the Design Singapore-Design Education Committee. He was appointed by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) as the Festival Director of Archifest 2019.
He believes in the transformative power of Design in effecting change and making the world a better place.
Ar. Lim Shing Hui, L Architects
Lim Shing Hui is the founding director & Design Principal of L Architects, an inter-disciplinary architectural design practice based in Singapore. She received both her Masters of Architecture & Bachelors of Arts in Architecture from the National University of Singapore. Her thesis project was under the tutelage of Professor Erik L’Heureux. Prior to starting her own practice in 2016, she spent her formative professional years working in MKPL Architects. She has been a registered Architect with the Board of Architects Singapore since 2014. At the recent SIA Architectural Design Awards she won a Merit Award for House of Trees & the highest distinction conferred - Design of the Year & Design Award for A Brick and Mortar shop. Shing Hui carries with her a spirit of curiosity and experimentation into many of her projects with a particular interest on greenery integration . Each project – whether architecture, interiors, landscape or design direction – is imbued with the same inherent quality; a simplicity that carries bigger ideas.
Ar. H. Koon Wee, SKEW Collaborative and Pian Jian
Ar. H. Koon Wee founded SKEW Collaborative and Pian Jian with Eunice Seng in 2006 to pursue specific intersections between design experimentation, research and education. To this end, they have lectured and published widely, and were appointed festival directors for the 2017 SIA Archifest. Koon served as Academic Director of the HKU Shanghai Study Centre, and is currently Visiting Associate Professor at NUS.
Ar. Darren Zhou, SKEW Collaborative
Darren Zhou (LEED A.P) is the principal at SKEW Collaborative. He received his BA (Architecture) from Columbia University and his M.Arch from Princeton University. Darren was selected for the 2016 Perspective 40 Under 40 Awards. He has taught at HKU since 2011, where he served as the Co-Director of the HKU Cities in Asia Programme.
