Clarivate Analytics listed him as one of the global Highly Cited Researchers 2019 for his cross-field research. Conferred Singapore’s highest Scientific Award, the President Science & Technology Medal for lifetime achievement, also received highly prestigious Imperial College London Faculty of Medicine Fellow award, both in 2013. Conferred the 2016 Singapore National Day Public Administration Gold Medal.
Awarded Monash University Engineering 50th Anniversary Distinguished Alumni Award.
