Topic 1: Design for effective control of vectors, e.g. dengue & rat

Upstream Infrastructure design has proven to be a key area that could reduce downstream maintenance efforts and associated vector-borne issues. The presentation will touch on locations where mosquito breeding habitats were commonly found and tell-tale signs of rat activities. The sharing will also cover infrastructure design consideration that Architects and QP can consider during the design stages as mitigation efforts against these vectors.

Topic 2: Common non-compliances in building plan submissions to NEA

Developments are required to meet environmental health and pollution control requirements as stipulated in the relevant Regulations and Codes of Practices. These requirements are to be incorporated in the designs of proposed developments.The speaker will share on the common non-compliances in building plan submissions to NEA.

Speakers

Ms Phenie Chiang
Ms Phenie Chiang is from the Vector Control Operations Division (VCOD) of the National Environment Agency (NEA). She oversees the Rat Surveillance and Control portfolio, where she is involved in the daily operations, planning and engagement work aimed at reducing transmission of rat-related vector borne diseases in Singapore.

Mr Chin Jun Tian
Mr Chin Jun Tian is an Executive Engineer with the Development Control and Licensing Division (DCLD), National Environment Agency (NEA).  He is involved in assessing Development Control (DC) applications to ensure compliance with environmental health and pollution control requirements stipulated in the relevant Regulations and Codes of Practices.
