Synopsis

Topic 1: Achieving good surface floor preparation that are cost-effective and long-lasting by Mr Markus Rische

In building construction, the wrong application or diagnosis of any site issue could translate to more costs in rectification works. Following the right steps can save trouble and considerable costs. The seminar will cover (1) the technique and methods of surface preparation prior to the application of liquid-applied resin flooring materials, (2) site conditions to consider such as moisture, contaminations, substrate level and applicator skills before the application of any flooring material, (3) steps for right preparation by using the right tools to achieve a sound foundation and high performance floor coating.

Topic 2: Waterproofing solutions for building structures by Mr Michael Ang

The seminar will cover various types of waterproofing systems used in different areas of building structures, from basement to roof, and the key criteria in the selection of appropriate waterproofing materials for the different locations. Besides, important factors of ensuring that the waterproofing system can be installed properly on sites such as surface preparation, membrane physical properties and their key advantages/strengths will be shared. We will also discuss some of the new trends in construction such as Green roofing systems, PBU/PPVC and look at the most effective waterproofing system to be tailored or used in such applications. Some case studies will be used to illustrate the importance of selection of material and the level of workmanship required for actual site conditions to ensure good waterproofing practices for concrete building structures.
