Synopsis
‘The Order of Love’ Conference takes a holonic and interdisciplinary approach in crafting the four interwoven sub-themes: People, Planet, Finance, and Time. We draw on diverse domains of Architecture, Economics, Finance, Sustainability and Public Policy. Featuring key opinion leaders, speakers of various backgrounds and experiences, the conference will be organised into four themes to delve into these inquiries. Each session hosts 2 to 3 speakers in an 18-minute TED-talk format, followed by a moderated panel discussion. The conference hopes to engage architects, developers, policy makers and students from Singapore and around the region.
People + Culture
From raising care for the community to creating social awareness in growing a culture of environmentalism. How can architecture provide the backdrop for a deepening environmental attunement to help communities flourish and thrive beyond the life of the building?
Planetary + People + Finance
At the heart of our global condition lies the search for and attainment of wellbeing. The interconnected web of environment, people and markets reveals a tension that could be productive and generative. This panel discusses a vision for an economics of wellbeing, inquire how tools in finance could help mitigate climate issues, and seek out ways that people and the environment could benefit from a new framework of designing and building.
Planetary + Culture
Making architecture that respects the land, its people, and the richness of communities involves a recognition of environmental heritage and culture. How can the architect be a builder, connector, healer, and memory-keeper for the people who live in and interact with the building and its surroundings? What are the thoughts and ethos of our speakers as shown in their built works?
Culture + Time
The arc of civilisations throughout history reveals the tenacity and temerity of humans. Man lives to make, and makes in order that one might live better. Yet, in recent times, we have confronted the failure of systems. How can architects and designers participate more meaningfully in this ceaseless endeavour in the age of global cities? What new modes of making and doing – based on the order of love – could bring us to a safer Anthropocene?
